Influenced by the rhythms of nature, Tiyi Medu, creates a distinctive form of soul music that is shaped by intriguing guitar compositions, world music influences and traditional sounds.

 

Sharing most of her time between the U.S. and Africa, she is most known for her enchanting  live performances, her use of traditional/folk instruments and as an innovative multi-instrumentalist on her self-produced recordings.  

 

While producing an EP containing a collection of chill guitar compositions laced with traditional West African sounds, Tiyi Medu is also working on a long-term project: a debut album that she has been writing over the last 20 years.  

 

Tiyi Medu combines all of the musical experiences that she gained in Africa,  Asia, the Caribbean and the US when gracing stages domestically and internationally with what has been referred to as  "a multi-cultural and global appeal".   With a growing catalogue of sound recordings and an expanding portfolio of live performances across the globe, Tiyi Medu is already creating anticipation among listening ears.
